Keep museum notes you can use later
Record the museum, exhibition and object number when available. Summarize the label in your own words and note which details came from the institution.
Add your own observations separately. If photography is permitted, include a view of the whole object and a reference to the label.
When you revisit the notes, preserve uncertainty. A useful record makes clear which claims are documented and which questions remain open.
